Hello Dreamers,
I want to get onto making a game. Serious this time!
Prove Yourself is a fairly simple game. You're placed inside a stone room and you are made to fight a mob of monsters. Combat is reminiscent of old-school Zelda swordplay. 10 waves of increasingly difficult monsters, from lowly slimes to a Behemoth!
Now, some of you might be thinking "That's it? That doesn't sound like much." Well, you are right: it is a really small, simple game. That is because I'm going with the philosophy of iterative design. I am going to start with a small game and build on that over time. Prove Yourself will be the first iteration. Iteration two would be a castle to explore, and so on, until we have something akin to a LoZLA clone.
The one game I would like to make would be a cross between BoTW and SDV. In English, Breath of the Wild and Stardew Valley, with a build mechanic. Unweldly large? Yes. Why I want to build one piece at a time.
The solo developer who made Stardew Valley spent 10 years on that game before it was releasable. I ain't got time for that!
A little bit on the tech. I am making this in HTML5 Canvas, a Javascript-backed technology. For what I am doing a full game engine might not be needed. The graphics are going to be simple sprite art. Below is what I got so far, which is just a room. No code yet thought you would see (and steal) from GitHub real soon!
