Year in Review: Twitch

Hello Dreamers

So I made about the same amount on Twitch as I did on Amazon. Not a lot.

Some who following me as Mikodite Yvette on Twitch might have noticed that I had been streaming less and less. Much of that is because I was virtually useless in November and a chunk of December where all I wanted to do was sleep. This drop off isn't as obvious with my writing as a book on Amazon can be purchased as any time and doesn't need me constantly live.

Goals for Twitch

More Regular Go Live Schedule

As I stated in this post, I plan to stream two days a week, focusing more on my writing. However I plan to have these days more standard and blocked off in advance. Should help to keep me live.

More Community Days/Nights

I haven't been doing these because everytime I do it, not a single person shows up. Defeats the purpose if I'm by myself, especially since a lot of these games don't even have a single player mode.

However, I've spoken to some friends who are finding that groups that they are in aren't as active as they would like them to be, or are only playing the same few games over and over again. I think I might be in a better position this year to get a group, convince them to be live on VC, and at least attract others to watch.

Collab Nights (Especially with Senorita Erikita)

Some of you might have seen servbot1988 link to her Twitch channel. She and I are net pen-pals and I know that we should get together and combine our communities for a gaming night. The game is usually Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as she mains that, but hey, its something. We're overdue for a night.

Might see if I can find others as well.

SMM2 Weaning

I am burnt out from this game. I'm not that good at platformers to begin with, and I'm at a point where I have seen it all. The community is dying, and its the Jackbox Andy problem: those who are in the stream to watch SMM2 content are only there to make someone play their level. Viewer levels is a crapshot of whatever or not I get trolled, or get stuck on a level that's beyond my skill level. I know some people are content grinding it out and trying over and over again, I am not one of them.

With Nintendo developing another console I will not be following into SMM3. There are all these other games that I would rather play. Hopefully I find a community there. In the interm I will fire up SMM2 for Kana's levels. I guess this also means that I am retiring as the President of the Canadian Division of the Troll Castle Challenge within the near future. Poor Jason.

Writing Cross-Posting

Twitch is a great place to get discovered. While the overlap between gaming and fiction writing is narrow, I know its there. After all, lots of games are sci-fi and fantasy, which I write in. Some gamers also read. One of the mini-series I am writing is heavily inspired by Legend of Zelda.

Expect great things!
